The short answer: the best Salesforce AppExchange apps for AI agents are the ones with a long review history that added agentic features to a product customers already trusted, not the ones built agent-first this year. We retrieved 2,024 live AppExchange listings from Salesforce's own listings API on August 30, 2026. Only 112 of them, 5.5%, mention Agentforce, AI agents or agentic capability anywhere in the listing. Of those 112, fifty two have zero customer reviews. The catalog is younger and thinner than the marketing suggests, and that changes how you should shortlist.

How we counted, so you can check it

Salesforce publishes a listings API that returns the marketplace catalog as structured records, including publisher, rating, review count and whether the listing is paid. We paginated it on August 30, 2026 and collected 2,024 unique listings before the API began repeating results past roughly the 2,000 mark. The API reports a total of 5,585 installable listings, and the published AppExchange sitemap contains 6,066 product listing detail pages, so our sample covers a little over a third of the catalog.

That is a sample, not a census, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is large enough to be informative about proportions and not large enough to guarantee that no well-reviewed agentic app is missing from it. Every number below refers to that sample.

What the sample actually shows

2,024 AppExchange listings retrieved from the Salesforce listings API, August 30, 2026
MeasureAgentic listingsAll listings in the sampleWhy it matters
Count112 (5.5%)2,024Agent-related listings are a small slice of AppExchange
Mention Agentforce by name80n/aFewer than half the "1,000 plus" figure would imply, in a third of the catalog
Paid listings54%48%Agentic apps skew slightly more commercial
Zero customer reviews46%33%The clearest signal: agentic listings are newer and less proven
Median rating where rated5.00n/aA perfect median usually means very few reviews, not perfect products

The zero-review number is the one to take seriously. Across the whole sample, a third of listings have never been reviewed. Among listings that talk about agents, it is nearly half. A five-star median on a set where half the products have no reviews at all is a statistical artifact of newness, not evidence of quality.

That is not a scandal. It is what an emerging category looks like eighteen months after Salesforce launched AgentExchange in March 2025. But it does mean the usual AppExchange shortcut, sort by rating and pick the top result, produces bad shortlists in this category specifically.

The AppExchange apps with real agentic capability and a real review history

These are the listings in our sample that both mention agentic capability and carry enough customer reviews to mean something. Review counts and ratings are as returned by the AppExchange API on August 30, 2026 and will drift.

Notice the pattern in that table. With one or two exceptions these are not agent startups. They are established Salesforce apps, most of them with several hundred reviews accumulated over years, that added agentic features to a product customers already depended on. Box has the lowest rating on the list at 3.98 and also one of the longest histories, which is what a real review distribution looks like once enough people have used something.

The genuinely agent-first entries in our sample, such as Sweep's agentic layer for enterprise systems and GPTfy's autonomous voice, email and chat agents, carry 35 and 17 reviews respectively. They may well be excellent. You simply have less evidence to go on, so treat them as a pilot rather than a rollout.

How to shortlist an AppExchange app for agent work

Four checks, in this order. They take about ten minutes per listing and they catch most of the expensive mistakes.

1. Check what type of component you are installing

Salesforce defines four partner-built component types, and three of them are parts rather than products. Actions add a single capability. Prompt templates are reusable prompts. Topics group actions and instructions with guardrails. Only an agent template combines topics, partner actions, metadata and global instructions into something close to a finished agent. Plenty of buyers install an action, discover it does nothing on its own, and conclude the marketplace is empty. We break the types down on our page about Salesforce AgentExchange and what is really in the catalog.

2. Read the review count before the rating

A 5.00 from four reviews tells you almost nothing. A 4.66 from 699 reviews tells you a great deal. In this category the review count is the more informative number, because 46% of agentic listings have none at all. If a listing has fewer than about twenty reviews, you are the pilot customer, and that is a fine thing to be as long as you scope the commitment accordingly.

3. Check the prerequisites, not just the price

Most listings assume a particular Salesforce cloud and edition, and some assume you are already a customer of the partner's own product. The listing price is frequently the smaller half of the bill. Read the supported editions field carefully before anyone gets excited in a demo.

4. Price the running cost, not the install

This is the one that surprises people. A free listing is not a free agent. Every action an Agentforce agent takes consumes Flex Credits, which Salesforce sells at $500 per 100,000 credits, and its own worked examples price a single agent action at 20 credits, or about $0.10. An agent that takes five actions per task, run two thousand times a month, costs about $1,000 a month to operate regardless of what the listing charged. Our guide to Agentforce pricing and Flex Credits works through the break-even against the $2 per conversation model.

The review problem cuts both ways

If you publish on AppExchange rather than buy from it, the same data is a warning. Nearly half of agentic listings have no social proof at all, which means the listings that do have it are pulling far more than their share of installs. Getting those first twenty reviews is not a marketing nicety, it is the difference between appearing credible and appearing abandoned, and it usually comes down to asking the right customers at the moment a product has just worked for them rather than at renewal. That discipline of systematically collecting customer reviews is worth more to a new agentic listing than another feature.

What about apps outside the Salesforce ecosystem?

Everything above assumes Salesforce is your system of record and the work you want automated happens inside it. That is the case where AppExchange and AgentExchange are genuinely hard to beat, because an installed agent inherits your sharing rules, field-level security and audit trail on day one.

It stops being true the moment the workflow spans tools Salesforce does not touch. An agent that spends most of its time calling out to Gmail, Slack, Stripe or Shopify does not gain much from living inside a CRM, and it inherits the CRM's consumption bill anyway. In that situation an independent option is the better shape, which is why you can browse ready-made AI agents here that connect to the tools you already pay for without a platform contract underneath them. If you are comparing the underlying platforms rather than individual listings, our breakdown of AI agent platforms on published US pricing covers twelve of them, and our overview of AI agent marketplaces compares the vendor storefronts against the independent ones.

Frequently asked questions

How many apps are on Salesforce AppExchange?

The AppExchange listings API reported 5,585 installable listings on August 30, 2026, and the published sitemap contains 6,066 product listing detail pages, so roughly 6,000 is the real installable catalog. Salesforce markets more than 10,000 apps, a figure that reconciles once you add the 2,600 plus Slack apps and the 4,477 consulting and 1,210 content listings that are not installable software.

Are AppExchange apps free?

About half. In our 2,024 listing sample, 1,059 listings were free and 965 were paid, so 48% carry a fee. Among agentic listings the paid share rises slightly to 54%. Free to install is not the same as free to run: an Agentforce agent consumes Flex Credits every time it acts, whatever the listing charged.

What are the best AppExchange apps for Agentforce?

By customer review count in our sample, Talkdesk for Salesforce leads with 699 reviews at 4.66, followed by Qualified.com with 435 at 5.00 and TaskRay with 330 at 4.95. All three are established Salesforce apps that added agentic capability rather than agent-first startups, which is the pattern across the whole top of the list.

Is AgentExchange the same as AppExchange?

They are one marketplace now. Salesforce merged AppExchange, the Slack Marketplace and the Agentforce ecosystem into a single storefront in April 2026, backed by a $50 million Builders Initiative for partners. AgentExchange is the agent-focused view of that catalog, and its listing detail pages still live on the appexchange.salesforce.com domain.

How do I know if an AppExchange app is trustworthy?

Salesforce states that listings pass security and customer review before they appear, which is a genuine procurement filter. Beyond that, weight the review count more heavily than the star rating, check the supported editions field for hidden prerequisites, and confirm whether you are installing a finished agent template or a single action. A listing with under twenty reviews is a pilot, not a rollout.

Do AppExchange agents work without Agentforce?

No. Agentic components install into a Salesforce org and run on Agentforce, so they require both a Salesforce contract and an Agentforce entitlement. Salesforce Foundations provides a free entry point that includes credits for the first 1,000 Agentforce for Service conversations, which is enough to evaluate an installed agent but not to run one in production.
